City police continue to investigate Widnall Pool incident

City police continue to investigate an incident at a local pool.

On July 13, emergency services were called to Art Widnall Pool after lifeguards responded to a medical emergency involving a 13-year-old boy.

The child was ultimately transferred to a hospital in London, Ontario, spending time on a ventilator before returning home.

Police are looking to identify an individual who assisted during the emergency.

Investigators have spoken to multiple witnesses and people present at the pool when the situation occurred.

“This individual may have important information and their account of events could be of assistance to the investigation,” said Thunder Bay’s police in a release.

The person is not suspected of any wrongdoing.

The individual, their parents/guardians, or anyone who knows the identity of this individual, is asked to contact city police.

Police are also asking anyone who was present at the time of the incident, or has relevant information, that has not yet come forward to contact investigators at (807) 684-1200.
