2 Nipigon residents facing charges following robberies

Two Nipigon residents are facing charges following two separate robberies.

On Thursday the Ontario Provincial Police received a call around 2 a.m., but the call dropped.

Officers were sent to a home on Hogan Road in Nipigon to check on the wellbeing of the caller.

When they arrived they found a home that had been broken into and two injured men.

While officers were investigating the scene a second report came in about another robbery around 5:30 a.m.

Investigation at the second home determined that the same suspects were involved.

Later in the morning around 9 a.m., officers were able to locate and arrest two suspects.

As a result, a 32-year-old is facing the following charges:

  • Assault causing bodily harm x2
  • Break, enter dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence x2
  • Mischief under $5,000 x2
  • Utter threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Robbery with theft

A 40-year-old is also facing the following charges:

  • Assault causing bodily harm x2
  • Break, enter dwelling house with intent to commit indictable offence x2
  • Mischief under $5,000 x2
  • Robbery with theft

Both of the accused remain in custody with future court dates.
