Thunder Bay: Teen leaving the hospital after nearly drowning

A mom and her 13-year-old son are heading home from the hospital after he nearly drowned at a pool in Thunder Bay.

The teen was rushed to the hospital on Saturday after reports indicate he was pushed into the water at Widnall Pool.

He was taken to a local hospital before being transferred to London, Ontario where he has been recovering since.

A GoFundMe for the boy featured an update from his mother yesterday, saying that he is well enough to return home today or Thursday.

The fundraiser, with an initial goal of $10,000, is now a few donations away from reaching their new goal of $35,000.

Thunder Bay Police Service says that its Major Crime and Forensic Identification Units have become involved in the ongoing investigation.
