Thunder Bay resident charged with attempted murder

Reports of gunshots in the city have led to an attempted murder charge.

Officers were sent to a home on Simpson Street early Wednesday morning just after 5:00 a.m. in response to the reports.

At the home, a suspect was located and arrested.

The incident remains under investigation by the Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Unit, and a police presence is expected to remain in the area.

A 35-year-old Thunder Bay resident has been charged with:

  • Attempted murder using a restricted or prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Reckless discharge of a firearm

The accused appeared in court on Wednesday and they remain in custody with a future court date.
