Confederation College relaunching train conductor program

Confederation College has announced that it is relaunching its railway conductor program through the college’s workforce development department.

The 12-week program is designed to equip individuals with the skills they need for road or yard service train crews in North America.

“We are thrilled about launching the railway conductor program and offering it to our community this spring. We know the railway industry is currently in high demand, making it an exciting field to be a part of right now,” stated Confederation College’s Director of Workforce Development, Jason Ozbolt.

Railway conductors are responsible for carrying out specific instructions detailing a train’s schedule and specific movements, as well as handling the switching of cars, connecting and disconnecting cars, riding moving equipment to the effect the switching of rail movement in yard operations and more.

This program follows Railway Alliance Canada standards and practices to ensure graduates are ready for the job market.

Upon completion of the program, graduates can look forward to career prospects, with starting salaries averaging around $80,000 per year. The program offers a pathway to a fulfilling career and provides a stable and financially rewarding future for its graduates.

The first class of the relaunched program is set to kick off on May 13, 2024.
