Weapons Call at Fort Frances High School

A youth was arrested following an incident at the Fort Frances High School earlier today.

Provincial Police were called to the school at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday regarding a youth in possession of a knife.

The youth was taken in custody.

In a message to parents, the Rainy River District School Board stated the high school was placed in a brief hold and secure position while the situation was unfolding.

There were no reports of any staff or students being harmed.

The youth has since been released.

A spokesperson for the OPP says more information is expected to be released on Friday.
