The Golden Girls. (Where were you on September 14, 1985)

It was on this date, 37 years ago (September 14, 1985)….THE GOLDEN GIRLS debuted on NBC.

Bea Arthur, Betty White, Rue McClanahan and Estelle Getty….played the roles of four older women who shared a home in Miami. The series lasted 7 seasons, with 180 episodes. TV GUIDE ranked it as “one of the best TV series of all time”.

All the lead actresses went on to earn Emmy Awards for their performances on the show. The Golden Girls picked up 68 Emmy nominations!

Fun fact: how old were they when the series debuted?

Bea Arthur was 63. Betty White was 63. Rue McClanahan was 51. Estelle Getty was 62 (but she played the oldest).
