It looks like the Canadian Football League will start on time after all.
A brief strike is over after the players reached an agreement overnight with the owners on a new collective bargaining agreement.
The league says the deal is subject to a ratification vote.
Most players did not report to training camp on Sunday just hours after the old CBA expired, except for the league’s two Alberta teams, who were not yet in a legal strike position due to provincial labour laws.
With the deal, it’s possible Monday’s preseason opener between Winnipeg and Saskatchewan will go ahead as scheduled.
The regular season starts June 9th.
The CFL and the CFLPA have reached a tentative agreement, subject to ratification.
