Digital Service Helps People With Addictions

Addiction help at your fingertips.

Breaking Free is available for free across Ontario and just requires a postal code to access the services it provides.

St. Joseph’s Care Group is the lead organization for Northwestern Ontario with Ashley Palmer serving as the implementation lead.

“It can be available on any digital device, and there is also an app component to the program so if someone wants to access the resources that are available on the app, it really just enhances the program that is available on the main browser,” explained Palmer.

The presentation was made in conjunction with Thunder Bay’s Drug Strategy, which was first launched in 2010.

Palmer added, “it’s fantastic to know that the Ministry of Health is providing funding for the second year of the program. We are now able to broaden our scope and be able to promote this program and get the information out there to everyone who needs it.”

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
