It appears city staff and the Thunder Bay Community Tennis Centre (TBCTC) have come up with an alternative to a proposed indoor racquet sport facility.
A report to council on Monday night recommends the group be given access to lands adjacent to the existing seasonal tennis facility on Chapples Park Drive.
In order to accommodate the plan, $1,036,291 from the Renew Thunder Bay reserve fund would be used to realign the road and complete other related work.
The group initially wanted a site northwest of the existing outdoor courts, but administration favoured a site adjacent to the golf course.
Council approved up to $1.5 million from the Stabilization Reserve Fund in October 2019 for a dome on Chapples Park Drive.
