Long Wknd Seatbelt Charges Increased 8 Fold

The provincial police released their numbers when it comes to their long weekend seatbelt blitz.

OPP made 329 charges for seatbelt infractions, this is a steep increase of 611 per cent from 2021.

Last year, officers only made 37 charges.

Of the charges laid, 10 of them were involving a child not being properly secured.

  • Red Lake – 4
  • Sioux Lookout – 10
  • Thunder Bay – 129
  • Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Officers (North West Region-wide) – 60
