Gillies Township Struggling Without Power

A State of Emergency has been declared for Gillies Township.

Reeve Wendy Wright made the declaration Friday morning due to extended power outages, loss of communications, and impact on critical infrastructure.

The statement says that the power has been out to some homes for 48 hours and anticipates it may last for more than 72 hours following Wednesday’s snowstorm.

According to the Hydro One website, there are still 109 outages affecting 1,967 customers in outlying areas of Thunder Bay.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
