Peng You Taking Leave Of Absence

Focusing on the campaign for a spot at Queen’s Park.

At Large councillor Peng You is taking a leave of absence from his council duties to begin his campaign for the Thunder Bay-Superior North seat.

Section 259 of the Municipal Act allows for Members of Council to take a leave from their duties for up to 3 months with no penalty.

In order to run for higher office, there is no rule in the Ontario Guide for candidates or the Municipal Election Act that states that potential candidates need to take this step.

There are guidelines under Thunder Bay’s Code of Conduct that state that city resources cannot be used for any campaigns.

Election Day will be on or before Thursday, June 2nd.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
