The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) is reporting above average snow pack levels in Thunder Bay.
As of April 1st, the LRCA recorded snow levels of between 74 and 100 centimetres on McVicar and Pennock Creeks as well as Hazelwood on the Current River watershed.
The normal levels for this time of year are between 20 and 46 centimetres.
“We are continuing to monitor conditions,” added CAO Tammy Cook. “If we have the typical weather that we’ve seen as of late, mild temperatures during the day and freezing temperatures at night, then hopefully it will be a slow melt into spring freshet which will be occurring in the next month.”
Back on February 15th, between 47 and 64 centimetres of snow was recorded by the the LRCA, who conduct snow surveys two times a month.
