Some things you might not have known about DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME?

Remember….we put our clocks ahead by ONE HOUR this weekend. We….SPRING FORWARD.

When it comes to “Daylight Saving Time”….did you know:

One entire province does not change their clock all year – which one?
Saskatchewan (and, the NE portion of BC)

What was the first city to exercise the time change?
The city of Port Arthur Ontario started DST. On July 1, 1908, the residents of Port Arthur, Ontario, today’s Thunder Bay, turned their clocks forward by 1 hour to start the world’s first DST period. Other locations in Canada soon followed suit. On April 23, 1914, Regina in Saskatchewan implemented DST. The cities of Winnipeg and Brandon in Manitoba did so on April 24, 1916.

The Changing of the clocks for DST is mandatory in Canada – True or False?
False – it’s up to every municipality.

Three communities in NWO do not change their clocks and are on EST time half the year, and CTL time the other half – which are they?
Pickle Lake, Atikokan and New Osnaburgh (about 500 km’s north of Thunder Bay) – located within the Central Time Zone in Northwestern Ontario, observe Eastern Standard Time all year long.
