The long layoff from game action comes to an end this weekend for the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
On the ice, Head Coach Andrew Wilkins and company head down south Wednesday for three games in less than 72 hours, beginning in St. Catharines against the Brock Badgers Thursday.
“It’s exciting for our group (to get on the road), a lot of team bonding,” Wilkins mentioned. “With all of the precautions around COVID-19, the venues down there won’t even be allowing fans into the building so it will just be two intense hockey teams excited to play.”
Their last game happened on Saturday, November 20th as the Thunderwolves skated to a 6-4 victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues.
The hockey team comes into play with a 3-5 record but six of their last eight games of the regular season will be away from the Fort William Gardens.
Wilkins is looking for contributions all throughout his lineup, adding “We want to play a specific style, which is fast and hard nosed, and hopefully get some good offence. I know that when you are off that long (from game action), it can take a (while) to generate offensive opportunities but we’ll be taking a simple approach.”
In other Varsity action, both basketball teams host the Guelph Gryphons Friday and Saturday.
