KGS Group Proceeding With Victoriaville Work

Thunder Bay gives the go ahead to Kontzamanis Graumann Smith MacMillan Incorporated (KGS) for further work on Victoriaville Centre.

The group submitted a Request for Proposal worth over $1.1 million, which would look after the demolition of the facility and reconstruction of Victoria Avenue.

In October 2021 council approved the consulting expenses of nearly $1.3 million related to design, surveying, as well as environmental and geotechnical work required.

One month later the elected body authorized Administration to apply to Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario (FedNor) and Northern Ontario Heritage Fund (NOHFC).

The overall cost is estimated at $11.5 million.

Current Schedule

  • Finalize Conceptual Design (Renovations, Demolition, Redevelopment) July 2022
  • Preparation of contract documents (Renovations) July 2022-January 2023
  • Commence construction (Renovation) May 2023
  • Commence construction (Demolition) May 2024
  • Commence construction (Redevelopment) May 2025
  • Project completion October 2025
