University students will be back in person while College students will not.
With the province beginning the gradual and phased re-opening plan on January 31st, officials with Confederation College stated that there are no immediate plans to return to in-class learning.
In an email to Acadia News Friday, Director of Communications Kim Daynard did add that there would be an announcement this week regarding the rest of the semester.
Meanwhile Lakehead University’s COVID-19 Transition Committee recommended the postponement of the start of in-person classes to Monday after consideration of the latest guidance and information provided by government and public health authorities.
“To help protect those on our campuses, Lakehead has a mandatory vaccination policy that applies to anyone accessing our premises,” said spokesman Brandon Walker in a statement. “This includes mandatory daily COVID screenings using our Mobile Safety app, the requirement to be able to present vaccine passports, and adherence to COVID protocols such as masking, physical distancing, and hand-washing. A guide to help instructors, supervisors, and students manage any cases of COVID that arise on our campuses has also been shared with the University community, and accommodations will be made for those who need them.”
