-40 Wind Chill Overnight

Much of Northwestern Ontario is bracing for colder temperatures.

Environment Canada has an Extreme Cold Warning out for Tuesday night and Wednesday morning with temperatures down into the -40 range.

Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin so bundle up if you need to go outside.

The city of Thunder Bay reminds you that shelters and warming services continue to be available. These include two 24-hour emergency shelters – Salvation Army and Shelter House, the Out of the Cold Program at Grace Place, and the Warming Centres at PACE and Elevate NWO.

If you see someone on the street who needs outreach assistance due to the cold temperatures, call SOS at 620-7678.

Additionally, the Care Bus is operational daily from 12 noon to 8 pm, and can be reached at 355-6012.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
