Coming in to work this morning, I decided to drive along Algoma to see what was left of The Finnish Labour Temple. December 22nd, around 7pm, a fire started and caused extensive damage to this historic building. It was also home to The Finlandia Club and the famous Hoito.
The word “Hoito” in Finnish……means “care”. Based on the social media comments / texts and calls to our studio this morning………so many people “cared” about this historic building. Thanks for sharing your memories / thoughts. Let’s hope 2022 will be a fresh start for this building / the new owner / the condos and of course THE HOITO.
