Expanded COVID-19 Booster Shot Eligibility

More groups can now get the booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The groups now eligible for a booster dose include:

  • Individuals aged 70 and over (born in 1951 or earlier);
  • Health care workers and designated essential caregivers in congregate settings
    (including long-term care home and retirement home staff and designated caregivers);
  • Individuals who received a complete series of a viral vector vaccine (two doses of the
    AstraZeneca vaccine or one dose of the Janssen vaccine); and
  • First Nation, Inuit and Métis adults and their non-Indigenous household members.

Along with this, you would have to have received your second dose of the vaccine six months prior to be able to get a booster dose.

If you are unsure when you received your second dose, you can visit here.

In Thunder Bay, appointments for a booster will be available at the CLE Coliseum Clinic.

Appointments will also be available in November in the District Communities.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit will continue to offer first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine at the CLE Coliseum Clinic.
