Lakehead University is naming its next chancellor.
Dr. Rita Shelton Deverell will start her new role as the symbolic head of the university at convocation in 2022.
Dr. Deverell is currently an Adjunct Professor of Education at LU, and her past achievements include being the first woman to lead a journalism program in a Canadian university.
“I am deeply honoured by the trust placed in me to be a worthy symbolic head of Lakehead University,” Dr. Deverell said in a statement from LU.
She will take over from the school’s ninth chancellor, Lyn McLeod, who was appointed in 2017.
