This Week on The Retro Lounge

Join me for a trip back in time on The Retro Lounge, with music and memories from the 70s, 80s and 90s, with a few surprises. This week a look at the five senses in songs or names; with a classic from Journey, from the album Evolution in 1979. It’s noted that the group started a steady climb with each album after their self-titled debut in 1975, improving its position with each release, until hitting the top with Escape in 1981.

More songs about touch from MC Hammer, Michael Jackson and a huge hit for the Grateful Dead, REO Speedwagon and Genesis, along with Samantha Fox about the start of her career with a worldwide smash; I’ll be listening to Paul McCartney & Wings, the Art of Noise and Deniece Williams from the movies; and different tastes like sweet from Lynyrd Skynyrd with the Swampers, and bittersweet with The Verve; a deodorant that turned into a big hit for Nirvana, and how love stinks for the J Geils Band, along with a superhero who uses his senses to get around and some senses you didn’t know about like hot(Red Rider) and cold(Paula Abdul) and a Sixth Sense in a popular movie and more.

The Retro Lounge is brought to you by Backstage, Thunder Bay‘s newest music and accessory store, at 215 Red River Road, Sunday night at 6, on 99.9 The Bay.
