The Royal Canadian Mint made a post on Twitter yesterday that a new loonie will be coming out today called the Klondike Gold Rush loonie. Marie Lemay, President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint said “The Mint is thankful to the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and Carcross/Tagish First Nations, as well as the Dawson City Museum for helping us tell a complete, shared story of the Klondike Gold Rush.”
To mark the 125th anniversary of the start of the Klondike Gold Rush, we are introducing these commemorative $1 circulation coins highlighting the 1896 gold discovery in the traditional territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in.

The new $1 coin will come in variety of colours and will being circulating Canada as of today so make sure to look for them in your change!!
In total, two million coloured versions and one million uncoloured versions of the new #Klondike125 one-dollar coin will begin circulating today.
