Mayor’s Mulligan Raises Over $20K

The annual Mayor’s Mulligan Golf Tournament was another success in support of PRO Kids.

This year’s event put on by Enbridge Gas raised $21,540, bringing the total raised in the past 17 years for charitable organizations to $214,540.

Mayor Bill Mauro teed-off at the event, and praised all the good the tournament does for the community.

“A big thank you to the organizing committee, to the legions of volunteers, and to everyone that came out and supported the event,” says Mauro. “This money will of course go to PRO Kids, and that money will be used to support a lot of the marginalized families in the communities whose young men and women might not otherwise be able to participate in a variety of activities within the community.”

The Mayor also thanked all the people from the Northwestern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame who supported the event, leading to increased revenues.

Laura Daniele is the PRO Kids Coordinator and explains how crucial these funds are, especially during a pandemic.

“This year raising funds for PRO Kids is more important than ever,” said Laura Daniele, PRO Kids Coordinator. “Children have suffered the impacts of isolation because of COVID-19, and now that programs are again being offered, it’s important we help get them back where they can be active, social, and motivated. Our sincere thanks to the Mayor for once again hosting this tournament and to all the sponsors, donors, volunteers, and players who made it possible.”

The tournament which also featured a putting contest was held at Chapples Golf Course.
