Thunder Bay Police Service is warning the city after an increase in overdoses from fentanyl.
In July alone, there were 14 fatal overdoses and a total of 36 incidents police were called to.
Police stress these numbers do not reflect all overdoses, just the ones they are aware of.
Regions outside ours are also seeing spikes in fentanyl overdoses.
In a statement, local law enforcement are asking users to be cautious.
“If you are struggling with substance dependency, the Thunder Bay Police Service would like you to be aware that you may be more at risk of coming into contact with fatal and dangerous narcotics at this time. If you do use drugs, you are strongly encouraged to not use alone and utilize the “start low – go slow” strategy.”
Police have yet to determine a specific batch that could be causing the increase.

Police also remind you that if you are concerned about drugs being sold in your neighbourhood to call 684-1200.
