Mobile Vaccinations For Homebound Residents

Superior North EMS continue to ensure that everyone gets fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

In-home doses are being administered across Thunder Bay for residents that are unable to leave their home or make it out to a vaccination clinic.

Superintendent of Community Paramedicine with SNEMS Shane Muir says the service includes staying 15 minutes afterwards to ensure there are no side effects.

“We have a couple dedicated paramedics that go out and work closely with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit to arrange appointments for those who are homebound and cannot make it out to a clinic,” Muir explains. “So we send out a couple paramedics to do an in-home dosage and they usually carry a kit that will assist if there are any adverse reactions.”

The mobile vaccinations formed out of the COVID-19 taskforce, and so far have visited around 250 homes in the area.
