New Boards For Regional Hospital, Research Institute

There’s new leadership at the Regional Health Sciences Centre.

President and CEO Dr. Rhonda Crocker Ellacott says she and the Hospital Board Chair are welcoming a new Board of Directors.

Dr. Crocker Ellacott and Hospital Board Chair Matt Simeoni welcomed Glen Currie, Christine Bates, Monique Rocheleau and Bonnie Pelletier as new Board Directors serving three-year terms.

“That’s exciting. Those individuals will be fantastic additions to our Board and help provide guidance as we move forward,” she says.

The new Directors replace Anita Jean, Gary Whitney, and Nathalie Coppola, who are ending their terms of office.

Dr. Crocker Ellacott is tipping her hat to those outgoing Board members, saying the organization owes a debt of gratitude to them.

“It’s been a challenging year on all fronts for sure, and the Board’s guidance and leadership has been incredible. We’re in a strong position as we move forward into recovery and to roll out our strategic plan,” she says.

The hospital’s sister organization, the Regional Health Research Institute, also added two new members.

Dr. Erin Cameron and Jocelyn Bel will also serve for three years.

They will join Board Chair Dr. Andrew Dean as well as James Peotto, Dr. Sheldon Tobe, Dr. Pam Wakewich, Andrew Ross, John Dixon, and Peter Bishop, who are continuing with the Board.

“Our team is expanding the fields of research and breakthroughs in some amazing fields,” said Dr. Dean in a statement. “From detecting neurodegenerative diseases at the earliest of stages, advancements in mammography for those with breast cancer to smart home-based monitoring systems for patients – the research being conducted in Thunder Bay is ground-breaking and game changing.”
