Thunder Bay Regional Set To Play Catch Up

The transition back to pre-pandemic times begins for the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

President and CEO Dr. Rhonda Crocker-Ellacott says there will be a time to look back at how the pandemic was handled, but for now it’s all about the staff and patients.

“We need to ensure that we have a comprehensive plan to support each and every employee through pandemic recovery, it’s no easy feat,” stressed Crocker-Ellacott. “Come the fall, we will moving back to what would be our pre-pandemic volumes, so we will able to look at clearing more backlogs and surgeries.”

Crocker-Ellacott gives high regard to the staff for getting through a trying time.

“Sometimes working outside their comfort zone to do what’s required to support our patients and their families across our region, the province and even the country when we supported those in Manitoba so this is a time to have an incredible amount of pride,” noted Crocker-Ellacott.

As of Friday, Thunder Bay Regional is caring for seven total COVID-19 positive patients with four of those in the Intensive Care Unit.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
