MNRF Confirms 16 New Fires

A rise in temperatures is causing more forest fires to spring up.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is confirming sixteen new ones, mostly in the Red Lake, Dryden and Sioux Lookout regions.

That more than doubles the number of active fires to 22, with fourteen of them not under control.

The fire hazard has also increased to the extreme range for much of the Kenora, Dryden, and Fort Frances areas, mostly high elsewhere except in the Far North, where conditions are moderate to low.
