Last year marked the 20th anniversary of Cameron Crowe’s movie Almost Famous, which may or may not be a semi-fictionalized account of Crowes time as a young journalist touring with Led Zeppelin and reporting for Rolling Stone magazine. Personally, I came to the movie a few years after it came out and I think I’ve watched it at least a dozen times since. The soundtrack is fantastic and every time I hear the song ‘Tiny Dancer’ I’m taken right back to the scene on the bus…which was really to illustrate that every band, no matter how hard/heavy they might be, has a favourite cheesy song that everyone loves. In any case, if you are a fan of the band, and music from the time period the movie is set in (the early to mid 70’s), Universal Music has finally released a 20th Anniversary Edition of the soundtrack. You can get the standard re-release of the soundtrack on vinyl, a limited edition Stillwater (the fictionalized band from the movie) vinyl OR you could get the super deluxe 103 song version featuring a version of Tiny Dancer WITH the cast singing along on the bus!!
