Alvin Fiddler is making his intentions known, to run for the National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations (AFN).
On twitter Wednesday the Grand Chief of Nishnawbe Aski Nation indicated that drastic changes are needed to strengthen communities.
As we build back from the pandemic, we need drastic change that strengthens our communities. It’s time to transform our national organization so it can become a voice for all First Nation communities. #afnelxn

Following several terms as Deputy Grand Chief, Fiddler was elected Grand Chief of NAN in 2015.
Perry Bellegarde made it known in December of 2020 that he would not seek re-election.
The new National Chief will be picked in July.
