A former Thunder Bay man is navigating the education system in northern Alberta during the pandemic.
Adam Sergerie teaches grade 8 math and a grade 7 homeroom religion class at St Edmond International Baccalaureate World School in Edmonton.
He explains students in kindergarten through to grade six are still attending in-person, while grades seven to 12 are taking all their classes online.
Sergerie says it hasn’t seen many cases recently. “In other schools, though, the numbers are getting up there, [with] ten, eleven, twelve teachers in isolation,” he points out.
Alberta reported over 2,000 new cases as of yesterday with two new deaths.
Sergerie played with the Lakehead Thunderwolves from 2008 to 2013, before signing on with a German hockey team for the 2013-2014 season.
