Health Canada Approves Pfizer Vaccine For Adolescents

Health Canada has authorized the use of Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines for COVID-19 in youth ages 12 to 15.

This is the first vaccine authorized in Canada for use in this age group.

This decision was based on trials done with over 2200 adolescents in the United States. They all received their first shots and will continue to be monitored.

A pediatric study is also ongoing to determine the effectiveness and safety of the vaccine in children six months to 11 years.

Public Health authorities in each province and territory determine when to rollout the vaccine for each age group.
