Fires In Current River & Westfort

A woodstove is believed to be the cause of a garage fire in Current River.

It happened around the supper hour Wednesday night at the rear of an address on Arundel Street.

Fire officials tell us objects close to the stove located in the garage were ignited causing the fire.

There are no injuries being reported.

Meantime in Westfort, an alert neighbour is getting credit for helping save a man in a house fire.

Early Tuesday morning at around 4 am he pounded on the door at the home on the 200 block of Amelia Street East awakening the sleeping resident who got out safely.

A barbeque that was not fully extinguished is getting the blame there.
