Mayor Concerned Over Anti-Mask Rally

A planned protest by anti-maskers has the attention of our mayor.

Bill Mauro tells us at this time any large gathering is contrary to existing Provincial Orders and that the police chief is aware of what is planned.

The group is calling itself The Freedom Convoy and is planning to be at Waverley Park Tuesday at 6 pm.

They have been travelling through several provinces as a prelude to their arrival in the city.

The mayor goes on to say, “Any gathering that does not adhere to Provincial orders and public health guidelines is incredibly disrespectful to the Public, the vast majority of who are adhering to public health guidelines” adding, “Any event that risks increasing the spread of the virus and prolonging the lockdown is not welcome in our City”

City police say they will inform anyone attending the rally about the rules and enforcement will be the last resort.
