There Will Be Lakehead Athletics In 21-22: Warden

Expect a return to University and College athletics in 2021-2022, with perhaps the only uncertainty being what that will look like, according to Lakehead University’s Athletics Director.

Tom Warden adds there have been a number of best case scenarios drafted up in cooperation with Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and USports.

“We will adjust as we need to,” mentioned Warden. “Those best case scenarios weren’t just developed on an island, they were put together with the expertise needed in order to go forward.”

Last October, The OUA cancelled all sanctioned university sport programming and championships up to March 31, based provincial public health guidelines in a decision which put the health and well-being of all its participants at the forefront.

Warden added how long, or when the season will start, will depend on where the coronavirus pandemic stands.

“We go as the health of our communities go, and I see positive things on the future of that,” stressed Warden, who also noted officials will take their time with the 2021-2022 season.
