New Regional Commander For OPP

The new commander for OPP’s North West Region is very familiar with the area.

Bryan Mackillop had stints in Marathon and Kenora and will now be leading the entire team of 400 officers.

“It’s been a little while since I’ve strapped on the boots and been on patrol. I look forward to doing that and learning about the pulse of each and every community that we serve, all nine detachments and I’m certainly going to take my time to dive into that as soon as I can,” explains Mackillop.

He will be responsible for an area that is 500,000 kilometres large which stretches from Marathon to Kenora, Fort Frances, Pikangikum, Red Lake, Sioux Lookout, and Pickle Lake.

The new OPP commander will take over the duties from Dave Lucas who retires at the end of the month.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
