Disrupted Pre-Flight Checklist Led To Crash

We now know why a plane carrying Thunder Bay curler Krista McCarville, her team, and coach Rick Lang, veered off a Dryden runway, injuring the coach’s hand.

The Transportation Safety Board has discovered in February of last year, the Bearskin crew was doing its pre-flight checklist.

The First Officer started the procedure that takes the lock off a propeller starter, but was told by the Captain to stand by.

The TSB says due to a slip up of attention, that task was not finished.

As the plane taxied, the investigation revealed because the lock was not removed, there was unequal torque of power between the two engines, causing the plane to go off the runway.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
