Ex Border Cat Trying To Crack Cubs Roster

A former all star with the Thunder Bay Border Cats is hoping for a full time spot on the Chicago Cubs this Spring.
Andy Weber, who was a fifth round pick of the Cubs back in 2018, has played in 12 games in the Cactus League and is hitting .200 with a double and one run batted in through Wednesday.
Weber was named a Northwoods League All-Star with the Border Cats in 2017, where he compiled a .299 batting average over 106 games.
Major League clubs will be pairing down MLB rosters to 26 players this weekend in preparation for Opening Day on Thursday, April 1.
  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
