Lewis Appointed To City Executive Post

The executive management team at City Hall has a new member.

Karen Lewis has been appointed as the General Manager of Development and Emergency Services Department.

Lewis has risen through the ranks after she joined the City of Thunder Bay in 1994 having been responsible for the development of a public engagement framework, the introduction of the municipal accommodation tax, and five corporate Strategic Plans

Lewis replaces Mark Smith who retired last month.

“I’m very pleased that Karen has accepted the position,” says City Manager Norm Gale, “I look forward to the vision, passion, and experience she will bring to the position.”

She begins her new duties on April 12th.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
