48 New Cases Of COVID-19 Regionally

Update 9:05 PM Friday:

There are 48 new cases of COVID-19 for the Thunder Bay District on Friday.

Fortunately, the health unit is not reporting any deaths.

The new count also includes 56 people who’ve had their cases resolved, which leaves the active case count at 389 for the region.

As we take a look at the week, from Monday to Friday, 231 people were diagnosed positive.

The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre tells us there are now 37 people in the COVID-19 ward, and of those, 12 are in the Intensive Care Unit. Due to the rise of cases, the hospital has expanded its COVID-19 ward to 32 beds, those eight new beds are in the isolated section of the 3B unit.

The hospital’s overall occupancy rate is at 83%.

An outbreak has been declared at The Walford retirement home after one staff member tested positive.

As far as schools are concerned in Thunder Bay, there’s a new case associated with Sherbrooke school. The health unit says that person got the virus in the school, but the school is currently doing virtual learning.

Across the province, there are 1,250 new cases.
