Off-site COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Open

Officials have done their due diligence and opened a new vaccination centre, inside the Bora Laskin building at Lakehead University.

The goal is to immunize as many as 600 people for COVID-19 a day by next week.

Rhonda Crocker Ellacott, president and CEO of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, discussed the mock scenario completed on Thursday: “It entailed having an individual come to the centre, registering them through our COVAX system, ensuring we’re checking for consensus, and then moving through the process to immunize the individual in a mock scenario.”

The CEO notes the off-site location will allow workers to handle appointments every five minutes within 12 stations.

Provided the vaccines are available, Ellacott adds this move will allow more daily immunizations.
