It’s back to business, somewhat, for a local hair salon and spa after the COVID-19 lockdown was lifted.
Steven Scaffeo is the owner of Terra Nova Salon and Day Spa, and tells us the virus will encounter a fortress due to screening clients on the phone, and other measures once they arrive. “People are waiting in their cars, and when they are ready to come in, we give them a call. And then we screen them a second time when they walk in, and they are to sign their name. We also disinfect their hands.”
The salon also has plexiglass between all the seats and throughout the spa.
The salon owner points out he has spent his own money for health measures, but remains open to assistance from the provincial and federal governments. “I feel bad for a lot of the small businesses. I think I could, if the government did close us down, I would be OK to close down. I’ve been doing this for 25 years, we’ve been established for over 20 years.”
The salon owner acknowledges there are other businesses that are struggling.
