It’s a milestone for an Indigenous health co-operative.
The Matawa Health Co-operative is marking a year of helping First Nations and the city of Thunder Bay deal with the pandemic.
The group is currently helping the Health Unit with a testing blitz at the Wequedong Lodge, which declared an outbreak on Monday.
They’ve performed over 4,500 COVID-19 tests since the pandemic began, along with other services like mental health supports and ensuring Elders have enough food.
The co-operative was formed in 2017.
