Local businesses are getting some good news as the province will begin allowing non-essential establishments to open back up soon.
Starting on Tuesday, non-essential businesses will be able to open to 50% of their normal capacity, while essential businesses like grocery stores can host 75% of their maximum customers.
Charla Robinson is the President of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce and says some businesses have been shuttered for six weeks, so the partial re-opening is a big help.
“This will allow them to have some folks in their shops, which is certainly a positive thing. But it’s clear that this is a very cautious re-opening, based on our current, continued high case count,” Robinson notes.
She indicates that Chamber members understand the public health measures are to keep everyone safe, while still allowing businesses to get back to work.
