Stay-At-Home Order Extended

The lockdown is staying in place for the majority of the province for another week.

Premier Doug Ford says he is extending the Stay-At-Home order for all but a handful of Southern Ontario districts until next Tuesday, February 16th.

It means there are no changes to current restrictions in the Thunder Bay district until at least that time.

Non-essential retail stores will be allowed to operate on a limited basis when the order is lifted.

The province says the extended lockdown includes all existing public health and workplace safety measures. When it is safe to do so, the province will gradually transition each region back to a “revised and strengthened” COVID-19 Response Framework.

Thunder Bay District Medical Officer Dr. Janet DeMille says according to our latest COVID-19 numbers we were considered in the Red Zone and that when we return to that framework it will have slightly different conditions than was in place prior to the lockdown.

Thunder Bay-Atikokan NDP MPP Judith Monteith-Farrell is suggesting small businesses are being left up in the air by the announcement.

“I think it is once again very confusing messaging and businesses require more certainty, as do individuals, so that is what I am not happy with.” explains the MPP.
