City House Prices Touted By Ontario Realtors

Mayor Bill Mauro says it’s something city officials have known all along.

The Ontario Real Estate Board is promoting Thunder Bay as having the lowest average house price in Ontario.

“The Community Economic Development Commission is pushing that message out at every opportunity.” notes the mayor. “They talk about affordability through much of the social media work they do as they push this out to Western Canada and certainly to Southern Ontario.”

The average price of a home in the city is listed by the Ontario Real Estate Board at $217,745.

Next on that list is Sudbury at $268,696 and Windsor at $303,183.

Those numbers are in stark contrast to Hamilton with an average house price of $569,490, Oakville’s $719,000, and $804,584 in the Greater Toronto Area.

Mayor Mauro is also hoping the pandemic may make some people think of moving to our city because they can live more affordably in a less crowded community.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
