COVID Outbreak Hits Chartwell Hilldale

COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at a northside retirement home.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports “one staff member” at the Chartwell Hilldale home has tested positive for the coronavirus.

The health unit points out under provincial rules only one positive test for COVID-19 is required to declared an outbreak. That can be in a resident or a staff member.

The home and the health unit have started “A thorough assessment of the situation,” and there will be increased surveillance, testing, and inspection.
