Correctional Officer Isolating Due To Virus

A warning from the union head at Thunder Bay’s Correctional Centre concerning the ease of getting COVID-19.

Shawn Bradshaw, who provides media updates on the outbreak, tells us he is isolating after being diagnosed recently, despite taking every pre-caution. “It’s little things you don’t even realize that you’re doing. You can wear a rain jacket in the rain, and still get wet. It’s about trying your best, and being as safe as you can.”

The head of the union adds for the most part he just feels achy, but does whatever work he can virtually while he’s off sick.

“I’m helping the people that I can, through conference calls and the like, that I have to continue as part of my union work. But right now, I’m not doing any correction officer work for the ministry,” says Bradshaw.

He is not certain as to when he can return to his previous schedule.
